Every site below belongs to a real US service business — plumbers, roofers, HVAC, fencing, tree care, handymen. We pulled each live homepage and checked the same seven things. This is what we found.
13%% have no structured data. No schema markup means the page never states, in machine terms, that this is a plumber in a named city with a phone number. Search engines and AI assistants have to infer it from prose, and they often don't.
22%% have no click-to-call link. On a phone, the customer has to copy a number out of an image or a footer. Emergency trades lose that call to whoever made it one tap.
8%% have no meta description. Google writes its own snippet, often from whatever sentence it finds first — frequently the footer or a service list.
Each homepage was fetched on 30 October 2026 and parsed as served — no JavaScript rendering, because a crawler that does not execute JavaScript sees exactly this. Pass rates are calculated against the 183 sites that responded at all. Businesses came from a public trade directory sweep across 41 trades in 3 states.
